Hmmm

Father S. doesn't like the Wendy's fish sandwich....

De gustibus non est disputandum. ;)

I didn't say I didn't like it. I said that it was nothing special. As your father might say, "meh."

However, on the off chance that I may have had a substandard edition of the Premier Fish Sandwich, as it is advertized as dear Wendy's establishment, I will try another later this week.

I am still inclined to go to the Arthur Treacher's in Fremont, Ohio.

To make a fair evaluation of fast food fish sandwiches, you all really need to try Burger King's Spicy Fish Sandwich. It is and always has been, by far, my favorite. The Hunt Club in Hillsdale (if it's still open?) had a fantastic beer battered cod too... fantastic.

The Hunt Club in Jackson is still open, I am not sure about Hillsdale, in addition to the beer battered cod they make the most FANTASTIC fried pickles!

Fr Stanley sorry you were not pleased with your 1st experience of Wendy's fish sandwich. :)

OK. I had the "premier fish filet" again last night, from our local Wendy's. It was OK. Is it better than McDonald's "Filet-o-fish"? Yes. But that's like saying Hunt's Catsup is better than Heinz Ketchup. Or Hillary is better than Obama. Sure, it's an improvement, but it isn't going to get me excited to rush out and buy it.

Perhaps it has something to do with the time of day. Maybe I should try it for lunch rather than for dinner. I mean, it was after 8 o'clock when I had the "premier fish filet."

Now the Spicy Fish Sandwich at BK, that may be a different story. I'll have to check it out, as Will Hill IV has not ever let me down. I still dream about Arthur Treacher's....

I thought you dreamt about Arthur Godfrey...

Lex,

I took another break from the Progresso Soup Diet today and went to BK for lunch. Alas: the local BK does not have on its menu the highly regarded "Spicy Fish Sandwich" to which Will Hill refers in his comment overhead. All we have here in ColdH2O is the "Big Fish," which is another *meh*. I think the Italians would say, "buh".

So, for those keeping score:

Wendy's = better than McDonald's -- it's certainly bigger than McD's
McDonald's = ho-hum, tartar sauce overload usually, soggy bun
BK Big Fish = meh, as in meh-onaise
Hillsdale Hunt Club F&C = a Will Hill fave, yet to be tried

But I still feel a roadtrip coming on, a roadtrip to Fremont, Ohio, and.... Arthur.... Treacher's..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

And, as I recall, Fremont is the hometown of our twentieth president, James A. Garfield: it will be an educational roadtrip as well.

Dad,

How-are-ya, how-are-ya, how-are-ya. Do you still have your ukelele? I haven't ever dreamt of Arthur Godfrey, but there's always a first time.
